Suzhou One-Day Sightseeing Tour Itinerary

10:00–11:20 Humble Administrator's Garden (1.5–2 hours of sightseeing)

Visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, a national 5A scenic spot and the epitome of Jiangnan classical gardens. Together with the Summer Palace in Beijing, Chengde Mountain Resort and Suzhou Lingering Garden, it is hailed as China’s Four Great Gardens.
It is the largest surviving classical garden in Suzhou, centered around winding waters with rolling hills, exquisite halls and pavilions, and flourishing flowers and trees, fully showcasing the distinctive charm of Jiangnan water towns.
The garden is divided into three sections:

Eastern Garden: Open and uncluttered

Central Garden: The core highlight of the entire site

Western Garden: Featuring delicate architectural layouts

To the south of the garden lies a residential compound, presenting the typical multi-courtyard layout of traditional Jiangnan dwellings. Though crafted by human hands, the Humble Administrator’s Garden retains an untamed natural wildness, preserving the original style from its construction in the Ming Dynasty. It is widely recognized as a masterpiece of Jiangnan classical garden art and an invaluable heritage of Chinese landscape design.
